Hort Protect insurance
Members of The Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) are eligible for exclusive, customized group life health and disability insurance through HortProtect.
Benefits
HortProtect is the only insurance program where one person can obtain all of the basic benefits of group insurance without a medical.
Full time employees who are not working during a low season can still be fully covered for up to 6 months with payment of premiums. The elimination period for Long Term Disability and Weekly Indemnity will begin on the normal expected date of return.
Employees posted within Canada but normal place of residence is outside the country but do not qualify for any Canadian, Federal and/or provincial health and hospitalization insurance plan are eligible. This is no medical evidence required. The employee’s accompanying spouse and dependent children are also eligible.
This benefit is included in the Extended Health Care plan. Each insured receives a wallet card which provides toll free access worldwide to medical and emergency assistance.
Upon death, health and dental coverage continues for dependents for 2 years without premium payment. If totally disabled for 6 consecutive months your Life and AD&D will be continued with no premium for as long as you remain disabled.
