The Canadian Horticultural Council’s (CHC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity for leaders in fruit and vegetable production, retail, business, and the federal government to come together to discuss issues and decide on a course of action for addressing issues of concern in the coming year.

CHC is happy to announce that registration is open for the 2020 CHC Annual General Meeting, which will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, March 10-12, 2020.

We encourage you to join us in Ottawa in early March to help advocate on behalf of Canadian horticulture and meet with industry partners.

On the AGM website page, you will find information on accommodations and registration. In the coming weeks, we will be updating this page with more information about the AGM’s agenda.

Doug Connery Award

As part of our AGM, CHC will be presenting the Doug Connery Award. Created in 2012 in honour of the late Doug Connery, a past President and driving force behind CHC, the award recognizes special individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, passion, and dedication, and who have made outstanding contributions to our industry. At this time, we are asking all members to consider nominating an individual to receive the 2020 Doug Connery Award in recognition of their own unique contributions to Canadian horticulture.

In 2019, Murray Porteous was the recipient of the Doug Connery Award. Murray was the award recipient after having chaired a host of horticultural and agricultural organizations, working as a public spokesperson for agriculture, and as a result of his unwavering commitment to leadership.

We look forward to this year’s nominations. To nominate a member of our industry for the Doug Connery Award, please contact Karl Oczkowski, Manager, Communications, at koczkowski@hortcouncil.ca, or 613-226-4880 ext. 218.
